SUMMARY:PGCert Sleep Medicine - Availability for Placements
DESCRIPTION:Can you support our PGCert Sleep Medicine students at UWE Bristol with short placements to aid completion of their workplace portfolios. \n  \nThe PGCert Sleep Medicine is a fast-track programme\, commissioned and fully funded by NHS England\, aimed directly at individuals currently working in NHS healthcare roles who are looking to upskill into sleep to help address the skills gaps evident within the NHS. \n  \nWe know that service pressures and staffing are an ongoing issue for many services\, and you may not feel you can accommodate a placement student at this time. However\, our students don’t need to work in a service for long periods\, they just need short but meaningful learning experiences and clinical exposure (e.g. shadowing\, sitting in on clinics\, professional discussions – either in person or online)\, though hands-on experience is always appreciated. And these students will soon be highly trained sleep professionals who can help to address the workforce gaps in your services going forward. \n  \nWe currently have 32 students on course who are actively completing their portfolio at present\, and will be confirming our October 2025 intake (maximum 50 students) very soon\, and so it would be good to share up-to-date placement information with them. \n  \nI hope you will be able to support our students in the coming year. Please share the link with your networks – the more placement sites we can offer\, the wider range of practical experience we can offer to students and the less burden on a small number of available placement sites. \n  \nYou’ll find further information and entry criteria on our website HERE \n  \nPlease complete the form HERE

SUMMARY:CBT-I Masterclass\, University of Oxford
DESCRIPTION:Two-day\, online Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) masterclass aimed at clinical professionals with a licence to practice\, including psychologists\, psychiatrists and physicians\, technologists\, nurses\, allied health professionals and clinical researchers. \nLed by Professor Colin Espie\, Dr Dimitri Gavriloff\, Associate Professor Simon Kyle\, Dr Lizzie Hill and Dr Rachel Sharman. \n\n\nCourse Code\n\nCBT-I MC Autumn\n\n\n\nCourse Leader\n\nDr Dimitri Gavriloff\n\n\nCourse Description\n\nInsomnia is the most commonly experienced problem with sleep\, with as much as one in 10 of the adult population likely meeting criteria for diagnosis. In primary care\, poor sleep is second only to pain in frequency of presentation. Chronic poor sleep is associated with cognitive impairment\, low health-related quality of life\, absenteeism\, and increased healthcare usage\, as well as increased risks for the development of a range of both physical and mental health problems. \nThe case for the effective treatment of sleep disturbance is\, therefore\, unequivocal\, not just in its own right but also because of the additional benefits that it may convey to other areas of physical and mental health. \nWith robust theoretical foundations and a solid evidence-base\, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is now the recommended first-line treatment for insomnia in international clinical guidelines. Its efficacy has been demonstrated across a range of clinical populations. Delivered by world-leading clinical and scientific experts in the field\, this course sets out to provide attendees with the practical training and theoretical knowledge to apply CBT-I in their clinical practice. \n\n\nFind out more \n\n\nhttps://www.oxforduniversitystores.co.uk/short-courses/nuffield-department-of-clinical-neurosciences/nuffield-department-of-clinical-neurosciences/cbti-twoday-online-masterclass-autumn \nhttps://www.sleepsociety.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/OOPSM-Course-Summary-2022-no-crop-marks.pdf \nhttps://www.sleepsociety.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Masterclass-in-CBT-I-2022-no-crop-marks.pdf\n\n  \n
