DESCRIPTION:For: Registered Health Care Professionals\nDuration: Two days\nCost: £645 / delegate\n  \nhttps://thesleepcharity.org.uk/cognitive-behavioural-therapy-for-insomnia-cbt-i/ \n  \nWe are delighted to be able to offer the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) course in partnership with sleep expert Professor Jason Ellis\, professor of Sleep Science at Northumbria University and director of the Northumbria Centre for Sleep Research. \nThis introductory course is aimed at registered health professionals with a good standing in their field of expertise (e.g. HCPC)\, who have an interest in psychological sleep interventions and want to identify\, assess\, and diagnose cases of insomnia\, and with peer supervision\, manage cases using the principles of CBT-I within their practice. \nInsomnia is a common sleep disorder that makes it hard to fall asleep\, stay asleep or causes you to wake too early and not be able to go back to sleep. This occurs despite having adequate opportunity for sleep and causes daytime distress or impairment. With up to 40% of the population reporting insomnia symptoms and between 10-15% of individuals meeting criteria for Insomnia Disorder\, the direct and indirect costs of Insomnia Disorder are extensive. Insomnia Disorder is a public health burden and the consequences can be seen at individual\, family\, community and societal levels. \nProfessor Jason Ellis delivers the course through a mix of online learning\, live session and Q&A to provide the theory and practical training to delegates to use in their practice. \n  \nModules covered include:\n\nDefining insomnia\nModels of insomnia\nDifferential diagnosis\nWho is a candidate for CBT-I\nStructure and Tools for CBT-I\nSleep hygiene and education\nSleep restriction\nStimulus control\nCognitive therapy I\nCognitive therapy II\nPeer support\nAcute insomnia\nQ&A\n\nLearning Outcomes\n\nDefine Insomnia Disorder according to International Classification of Sleep Disorders (3rd Edition)\, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (5th Edition) and the Research Diagnostic Criteria\nIdentify the differences between the various types and subtypes of Insomnia Disorder\nConduct a differential diagnostic for Insomnia Disorder\, including the assessment of intrinsic and extrinsic sleep disorders masking as insomnia (e.g. Restless Legs Syndrome\, Periodic Limb Movement Disorder\, Narcolepsy)\nIdentify who is and who is not a suitable candidate for CBT-I\nConduct CBT-I under peer supervision\, including note and case studies\nDetermine when brief therapies and adjunct therapies are indicated\n\nFormat & Location\nTwo day course\nDay 1 – delivered online through our online learning hub\nDay 2 – delivered live 9am – 4.30pm\, at Hilton Garden Inn\, Doncaster Racecourse\, Leger Way\, Doncaster\, DN2 6BB\nA printed workbook is also provided \n

SUMMARY:eSleep Europe 2023
DESCRIPTION:SAVE THE DATE for eSleep Europe 2023 – ESRS’s virtual sleep congress. This will be held 4–6 October 2023. We know your time and travel resources are limited and want to offer an accessible meeting where the decision to participate is not complicated. The vision for this virtual congress is to allow participation from around the region\, and provides the opportunity for ESRS to spotlight the achievements of Europeans. \nPierre-Hervé Luppi\, ESRS President and Erna Sif Arnardóttir\, ESRS Secretary have agreed to serve as the Chairs of eSleep Europe 2023 representing the fields of basic and clinical sleep respectively. \nUnlike our physical meeting\, the sessions will not run as parallel tracks but focus one half day per track. Essentially the time commitment is only a half day per track but all participants will have access to all of the sessions and posters\, both live and on demand. eSleep Europe 2023 will feature six half–days of education\, categorised by track to include keynote lectures\, year-in-review\, symposia\, controversies\, roundtable discussions and oral and poster presentations. Each day will be split into two tracks\, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
