The relationship between periodontal diseases and obstructive sleep apnoea

October 5, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Book onto this webinar here – https://www.rsm.ac.uk/events/odontology/2020-21/odp50/

Episode 2 of the Sleep and Dentistry webinar series.

This webinar aims to redefine the association between sleep disorders and periodontal diseases. Recent evidence suggests a frequent comorbidity or potential relevant consequences for patient’s health. Experts will discuss the clinical consequences of comorbidity OSA and periodontitis and highlight the putative mechanisms which link periodontal inflammation to Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).

During this webinar you will:

  • Understand the association between sleep disorders and periodontal diseases
  • Learn the presumed mechanisms linking periodontal inflammation to OSA
  • Acknowledge the clinical consequences and the management of the comorbidity OSA + periodontitis

Sleep disorders and periodontitis are highly prevalent diseases in the general adult population. Clinicians should be aware of this, screening for periodontal diseases in patients suffering from sleep disorders and checking sleep hygiene and health in patients requiring periodontal treatments.

A CPD certificate with 1 CPD credit will be issued to those joining the webinar live as well as those who watch the recording afterwards. Certificates will be issued 7 days after the webinar to those who watch it live and after 30 days for those that watch the recording.
